Protect trans folks

The point of this message is not to go through all of my thoughts, feelings, or opinions of LGBTQIA+ issues. These things are incredibly urgent and important, but I am not the person to listen to here. I just want to put a tiny ripple out there that I support marginalized people and hope it is never murky where I stand.

I will work to do whatever I can to help. One of the biggest things I can do is speak out, especially with my privilege, to correct those around me that are misguided. I am thrilled to be in a community that I don’t have to encounter rampant hatred, or even blatant hatred, on a regular basis. I do regret not speaking out in certain situations in the past to advocate for LGBTQIA+ folks, as well as my own microaggressions.

Everyone is just trying to get by. I get that everyone has different backgrounds and ways of viewing things. However, if you believe that people are “choosing” to be in these groups, especially transgender, maliciously to take advantage of some sort of situation, you are fucked. I am happy to spend time with you to explain why you are wrong.

Everyone deserves to be happy, healthy, and free to love and be loved. That is all we are trying to do. And we need rights and freedom to choose. I hope this clears things up.
